About the Staff Bank
Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank is a pool of skilled temporary workers who provide support across a variety of council services. Teams call upon registered bank members to cover staff shortages due to sickness, vacancies, or fluctuating workloads. Roles are temporary and can be offered on an ad hoc basis or for longer-term assignments, depending on service needs. 

Please note that roles and salary rates may vary depending on the level and type of administrative work required.


About the Roles
We are seeking reliable, flexible individuals with excellent literacy and numeracy skills to join our Admin Staff Bank. Assignments can vary and include:

  • Front of House / Reception Duties – greeting visitors, answering phones, managing appointments.

  • General Office Support – filing, data entry, booking systems, photocopying, collation, scanning, and maintaining service records.

  • Service Specific Administrative Roles – supporting teams across various departments.

All roles require the ability to follow instructions, work independently, and adapt to changing priorities.

The Staff Bank is managed by the Temporary Staffing Team, who you can contact via temporarystaffing@northumberland.gov.uk. You will be subject to Northumberland County Council's pre-employment checking process which includes a minimum of 2 references covering the past 3 years, health clearance and proof of right to work in the UK and depending on the assignment you may be required to undertake a DBS check.
