Communications Officer (Part Time)

Job Introduction
We are seeking a Communications Officer to join our small team and help care for the Northumberland Coast National Landscape, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one of England’s finest landscapes.
By designing and delivering inspiring and engaging communications you will ensure that the Northumberland Coast National Landscape, and our work, is understood, appreciated and supported.
As part of this exciting and varied role you will be responsible for all internal and external communications. This includes the management of social media channels and the website.

- You will have experience of delivering impactful communications activity, a talent for writing compelling and engaging copy for diverse audiences, digital skills, and website and social media experience.
- You will have the confidence and ability to lead on planning and delivering communications to the National Landscape team and our partners.
- You will be enthusiastic about meeting people, telling stories about the landscape, and helping with engagement and outreach activities run by the team.
- You will be a go-getter and excel at working both independently and as part of the team.
- You will have an appetite to take on new challenges and drive forward the collective impact of the work that the National Landscape undertakes.
ROLE OF THE JOB
- Be the strategic communications and engagement lead for the National Landscape through the review and delivery of the communications plan
- Oversee social media and web content across multiple platforms
- Promote the work of the National Landscape and its multiple projects through newsletters, press releases, blogsand other promotional material. Contribute to new projects through the development communication plans and media campaigns
- Liaise with Defra, the National Landscapes Association, Protected landscapes Partnership and communication officers in the National Landscape family.
- Manage and update the national Landscape’s image and video library to ensure access to fresh material
- Review and implement place branding, signage and interpretation
- Represent the National Landscape at events and meetings
- Produce high quality publications and other documents, overseeing the print and design process.
- Oversee the contracts with consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Assist in the organisation and promotion of events and activities.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
- Educated to degree level in a suitable discipline or with significant experie3nce
- Knowledge of all aspects of Public Relations, communications, design and print.
- Significant experience in communications, PR, journalism or marketing.
- Experience developing and delivering social marketing campaigns
- Experience maintaining and developing websites, including content editing.
- Experience dealing with media enquiries and briefing the media
- Experience of producing publications, newsletters and interpretation
- Experience developing and implementing communication plans.
The role is hybrid with an office base in Alnwick. The role will include travel within the Northumberland Coast National Landscape and beyond.
